Dental Implants as the Standard of Care
The advent of dental implants has revolutionized dentistry. Implants are now considered the standard of care for missing teeth. Dental Implants allow us to replace missing teeth—up to and including full mouth reconstruction - with teeth that look and feel natural and allow you to eat, speak and smile with confidence. Patients have stated, “It has been a life changing experience.”
When people lose a tooth, the underlying bone quickly resorbs. The loss of the underlying bone changes your facial structure and symmetry, restricts you functionally and cosmetically, and ultimately has a negative impact on your appearance and life. The goal of dental implants is to preserve the underlying bone and allow teeth to be restored naturally without compromising or involving the surrounding teeth.
“Dental implants are one of the biggest advancements in craniofacial reconstruction,” says Dr. Nghiem.
Placing an implant requires two phases. The first involves our surgical team, who will place a titanium post into your jawbone. Titanium alloy is used because it is the only metal that has no report of negative reaction or allergy. This implant replaces the natural tooth root and provides structural support. After a short period of healing, the restorative team fabricates the new implant crown. A precise model of your mouth is recorded and sent to our laboratory to create a replacement tooth or teeth. Because we perform restorations of the highest quality, our lab support is exceptional, and our technician is nothing short of an artist. The technician’s skill and doctors’ attention to detail ensure a predictable and exceptional outcome.
